In a unexpected partnership that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Revealed

According to the formal statement, "An unusual meeting pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of forbidden practices and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret sect.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre tests and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a striking moment showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Features

Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana together with numerous items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Addition

This release also brings the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Crossovers

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
