Automobiles in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers stated they were alerted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

City officials said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for information.

A senior political figure commented the incident left him without words and had to be resolved quickly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
