Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
